On my healing journey I lost over 60 pounds without diets, drugs or deprivation.
And I have kept it off for well over 10 years now.
I also healed a series of chronic health conditions including asthma, eczema, hypothyroidism, chronic fatigue syndrome and adrenal exhaustion amongst many others.
I achieved all of this using gentle healing tools.
And one of my favourite healing tools is meditation.
Meditation had a profound impact upon my healing journey.
Even today, meditation continues to guide, uplift and inspire me.
As a yoga teacher, retreat leader and healer, I have also witnessed meditation positively impact the lives of so many people.

My Battle Against My Body.
I spent the majority of my teenage years struggling with my weight, body and self image.
I had pretty much resigned myself to the fact that none of the available dieting approaches were ever going to work for me.
And that I was going to be fat forever.
It wasn't as if I hadn't tried to lose weight using the conventional methods. I'd really made an effort to shift those unwanted pounds.
I'd read the magazines, counted the calories and followed the advice of the dieting experts.
Sadly the results of my endeavours always seemed to adhere to the same sorry story: fleeting short term weight loss, quickly buried beneath greater weight gain.
And then just days before my twentieth birthday I had a complete body break down.
I was overseas attending a university conference when my body collapsed.
I was rushed back home on the first available flight.
My doctor ordered that I undergo urgent and extensive medical testing.
She wanted to put me on a course of experimental medication.
But I just knew there had to be another way...
I spent the next few months of my life bedridden.
I would sleep for up to 20 hours a day, waking only to be spoon fed by my mother.
The experience gave me a profound opportunity to observe my sick, tired and overweight body.
I started to reflect upon how I had been living my life...
It dawned on me, that I couldn't keep living the way I had been.
What I needed to do was make some new choices...
How I Discovered Meditation.
I came to meditation quite by accident.
I was so sick and tired of being sick and tired.
My mum suggested that we find some extra support to help me navigate my health challenges.
Thankfully I found a healing guide who I really connected with.
She assured me it was possible to heal my body naturally.
She introduced me to the importance of bringing my mind, body and spirit into balance.
I felt so encouraged by her wisdom and presence.
She inspired me to focus upon relaxing both my mind and body...
When I returned home, I lay down comfortably on my bed with my eyes closed... And did my best to calm my thoughts and feelings.
I didn't even realise it was called meditation back then...
At first, I was only able to meditate for a few minutes at a time...
With practice, I was soon able to build up to longer sessions...
I loved the peaceful and relaxing feelings that my meditation sessions gave me.
Once I gained confidence, I also started to visualise myself happy, healthy and well again.
Slowly but surely, with the help of my meditation practice, I started to simplify and transform my life.
How I Stopped Yo-Yo Dieting...
Losing my health was one of the most challenging experiences of my life.
It motivated me to release all the things in my life that weren't serving me, including my yo-yo dieting obsession.
Starting my healing journey was the real turning point.
My meditation practice helped me to listen to the wisdom of my body.
It also inspired me to befriend my body and learn how to take proper care of it.
I made the choice to let go of many of my old habits.
I stopped eating foods that contained ingredients that I couldn't pronounce.
Or ones that looked like they had been created in a 'science laboratory'.
Instead, I substituted these toxic 'fake foods' with 'real foods'.
Just as nature had intended...
I discovered that it was possible to eat food that tasted delicious and was good for me.
I substituted the bad things out of my diet and replaced them with the good.
As my energy increased, I also added in some gentle movement...
This included walking, stretching and yoga..
And You Know What?
I began to turn my life around and get well again. My meditation practice had given me a totally new lease of life.
I ended up losing over 60 pounds in the process (that's around 50 tubs of butter!) and I have kept it off for well over 10 years now.
I also healed all of my chronic ailments.

I know I did.
I failed at the dieting game over and over again.
Each time, I would start a diet full of enthusiasm only to end it in frustration and disappointment.
My repeated failures had a huge impact upon my self esteem, self confidence as well as my waistline.
What I discovered is that the reason diets fail is because they are designed to fail..
Think of it this way...
If you had a class full of enthusiastic students and 95% of them routinely failed their exams, would you say that the problem resided with the students?
Or with the teaching methodology?
The dieting mentality would suggest that the students are at fault and should be the ones to blame.
When we allow ourselves to take a closer look, pehaps it is the teaching methodology that has been failing the students?
"The Number One Reason Why People Struggle With Their Weight..."
The number one reason people struggle with their weight is...
That's right... Stress...
Most diets fail because they don't address the chronic stress that they experience in their daily lives.
If you are like most people living in the 21st century, you are probably feeling the stress and pressure inherent within modern day living.
This stress – whether it be physical, mental or emotional - can contribute significantly to weight gain and other chronic health conditions.
Stress can come from two basic sources... These are:
1. External stress
2. Internal stress
External stress is created by the world around us.
Demanding jobs, bosses, partners, children, parents, friends, pets and even financial pressures are all great examples of stress that we experience from the outside world.
Internal stress is created largely by our unconscious thoughts and feelings.
